Alice McDowell is a freelance documentary filmmaker working both locally and internationally in the areas of human rights and democracy. In recent years, she has collaborated with the Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), Galway Film Centre, Galway UNESCO City of Film, Science Foundation Ireland and the Simon Cumbers Media Fund. Her work to date has explored a range of themes, including LGBTI Rights, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Feminism and Islam, Money in Politics and Neurodegenerative Diseases. She is currently producing a short documentary with Ishka Films and the Irish Film Board, which captures stories from survivors of the Mother and Baby home in Tuam.
